Happy Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, I am finally launching a blog that I have been thinking about for a long time. I have always been somewhat environmentally concious, but I (like many other moms I've noticed) have kicked it up a notch ever since my Little Darling was born last October. That onslaught of diapers and purchasing, combined with moving into a house in the suburbs kicked my "greening" initiatives into high gear.

Through this blog, I hope to share some simple (and sometimes not so simple) changes we've implemented, as well as information about making your life more green. I hope to also provide reliable information and weed out some of the "green-washed" crap out there today.

My goal was originally to make one change in our family's lifestyle a month. I hope others will be inspired to do that too; I think once you start you'll find its catchy.

Hip Hip Hooray for Green Mommies! My take on going green...is you do what you can and before you know it making better choices reach into every crevice of your life. My greates pursuit now is earth friendly dishwasher soap (no phosphates etc.) that actually works well. I have yet to find a perfect solution. The Trader Joes brand isn't bad but nothing seems to clean like Cascade...sigh. The pursuit continues...

The Seventh Generation works great for me. If you try it and are still having problems, check the sprayer in the bottom of your dishwasher. These can get clogged with little bits of food over time, thus blocking the full spray power of the dishwasher.

You go Mommy!

You are a wonderful source of inspiration and information to those Mommies who want to do more for the environment, but finding the time and the right information is the biggest challenge. Thanks!
